Questions for Mordy Collection
1. Nicola Rosemary Elkin is inquiring about her Jewish parentage in England. Find her in Mordy's pedigree slip index (#1279240) and turn to that section in the pedigree slips. What is her paternal grandfather's name and birth year?
2. What are the four pedigree references given on the guide card in the pedigree slips for the Elkins family?
3. Use the alphabetized miscellaneous data/index to find the occupation and residence of Benjamin Alexander Elkin.
4. John Levi's wife's name was Ruth. They were Jewish. We cannot identify their marriage in the 1880's in civil indexes because we don't know her maiden name. An letter signed "Dad" has a return address of Wardrobe Place, Doctor's Common, London. Use Mordy's locality index to find a surname that might fit the address given. What maiden surname do you suggest they try to cross-reference the marriage?
5. After answering the above questions, ask Alan to see the pedigree compiled solely from the slips in the ED and HM pedigree slips. You may want to compare it to what you saw as you answered the first three questions.
